Trainee Accountant

With offices in Dublin and Cork, Nathan Trust is a family business that advises on all aspects of, Accounting, Taxation, Company Secretarial Practice, Company Law and Corporate Governance.

We have a number of positions available for trainee accountants in our Cork City centre office on a permanent basis. The roles offer an excellent opportunity to train with a reputable, progressive and expanding firm and to establish your career as an accountant. The successful candidates will gain valuable exposure to clients involved in international trade and a number of growth industries, providing an excellent understanding of international aspects of tax and accounting.

Duties will include:

  •  Maintaining accounting records on behalf of clients
  •  Full preparation of financial statements
  •  Monitoring of client tax filing requirements to ensure compliance
  •  Preparation and submission of corporation tax returns, VAT returns and other tax returns
  •  Preparation of payroll records
  •  Maintaining client relationships
  • Researching tax issues

Requirements

  • A third level qualification preferably in business or accounting
  • Experience is not essential as full training will be provided  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office (in particular Word, Excel and Outlook)  
  • Strong attention to detail, professional and adaptable
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • The ability to problem solve and work independently

Trainee Company Secretary

We have an exciting opportunity for a trainee Company Secretary based in our Cork office who will be provided with training on all aspects of company law and compliance whilst at the same time offering educational support so that they can obtain Chartered Governance (ICSA) Graduate status.

About the Role

As a trainee, you will be involved with support from the team in handling the day-to-day compliance and company secretarial duties of a portfolio of corporate clients, including:

  • Ensuring all Companies Act 2014 filings and registrations are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintaining statutory registers, filing forms with the Companies Registration Office, incorporating new companies and drafting Constitutions.
  • Meeting deadlines on a regular basis and ensuring the highest standard of quality and client service is maintained at all times.
  • Preparation of statutory minutes in relation to board and shareholders meetings and liaising with clients in relation to the convening of same.
  • Dealing with queries from clients and colleagues in matters of company law.
  • Manage and take responsibility for a portfolio of clients.
  • Participation in a variety of project work.
  • Administrative tasks.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

 

Requirements

  • 1 Honours Third level qualification.
  • Chartered Governance (ICSA) Part Qualified or interested in pursuing Chartered Governance (ICSA) qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to think on their feet, excellent attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills are essential for this multi-client role.
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise with excellent time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Microsoft Word, Windows, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Diligent (Blueprint) Software or an equivalent would be an advantage.
  • Team player while at the same time having the ability to work independently.

Experienced Company Secretary

We have an exciting opportunity based in our Cork office for an experienced Company Secretary to further develop their career.

About the Role

In this role, you will be involved with support from the team in handling the day-to-day compliance and company secretarial duties of a portfolio of corporate clients, including:

  • Manage a portfolio of diverse clients across varied industry sectors, with responsibility for ensuring client's companies meet their statutory obligations.
  • Maintain accurate statutory books and records for clients, completing all required CRO filings. Review, update or revise file contents to reflect the current status.
  • Ensuring all Companies Act 2014 filings and registrations are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Respond to client and third-party queries and provide advice on a range of company secretarial matters and the Companies Act 2014.
  • Drafting board minutes and resolutions, CRO forms, Constitution, share documents, client communications and advice.
  • Maintain records of incoming and outgoing materials, information and filing obligations through the use of digital platforms/systems.
  • Maintain checklists, logs, worksheets, or other records used to monitor the status of client companies.
  • Issue invoices and collect payments.
  • Participation in a variety of project work.
  • Administrative tasks.
  • Ad-hoc duties as required.

Requirements

  • 1 Honours Third level qualification.
  • Chartered Governance (ICSA) Qualified or Chartered Governance (ICSA) Part Qualified.
  • Ideally, 1-2 years experience in a professional practice.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to think on their feet, excellent attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills are essential for this multi-client role.
  • Ability to use initiative and prioritise with excellent time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Microsoft Word, Windows, etc.).
